Three areas, on purpose. A solo practice works when it's focused — these are the matters I take, and below each one, the honest version of what to expect.
Separation and divorce, parenting time and responsibilities, child and spousal support, separation agreements, and cohabitation agreements. Where possible I work toward negotiated agreements — they're faster, cheaper, and easier to live with than court. Where court is necessary, I'll tell you plainly what it will take.
What to bring to a first meeting: nothing but your questions. Documents come later.
Wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, and estate planning that fits actual families — blended ones, complicated ones, ones with a business in the middle. For executors: probate applications and estate administration, explained step by step at a moment when nobody has patience for legalese.
Most wills are flat-fee, and couples' packages are the norm, not the upsell.
Incorporation and shareholder agreements, contracts and terms, commercial leases, employment basics, and buying or selling a small business. I act for owner-operators — the businesses where the owner's name is on the door and the stakes are personal.
If your matter needs a specialist (tax, IP litigation, big commercial), I'll say so early and refer you well.
